Default V-Twin Down....

So late Friday night,
Getting into the Christmas spirit with a few adult beverages, and a couple of left-handed cigarettes. We decide that we were going to go play with the big boys, taking the golf cart to a whole nother level. Side by sides and four wheelers are one thing, but Jeeps and trucks are another. The club car really made me proud as well, the Jeeps and trucks were getting stuck due to incredibly deep and soft sand, we were able to stay on top by bagging our Tires down to four or five lbs pressure. Which really allowed me to show off, jumping Dunes like I was a rail buggy, jumping down in the mud pits with a running start and making it a cross like a Swamp Buggy, Crossing Creeks that were 2 feet +.... not really creeks more like a washout from an exceptionally high tide still had to be cross though. From the playground to my house is about 5 miles, on the way back from the playground the car started sputtering eventually came to a stop. My lovely bride came and pick me up and towed me the rest of the way home. The following day as I'm clearing the cobwebs out of my head I noticed oil on the side of my engine. So I topped her off with fresh oil, cleaned off all the oil where it had been leaking and started her up. Immediately she begin leaking again couldn't see where it was coming from, oil was appearing. Compression is good but there is no vacuum, if I for a little gas into the carburetor she fires up which is how I figured out there was no vacuum. I posted a couple of pictures maybe somebody can see something that I am missing. I started tearing the cart down yesterday, just so I can pull the engine out, plus I've got a couple of places on the frame where welds are completely broken, which is not uncommon. I just call this maintenance. So the teardown has actually begun. Here are a couple of pictures of the engine I'm hoping somebody can see something I'm missing.

Pcv valve may be plugged and won’t let the engine breathe

It is obvious what happened... the V-twin cart has become jealous of all the attention you gave the low-rider.
JK bud hope you get it figured out.

So as I'm getting ready to pull the engine out I noticed something odd, I am missing 6 crank cover bolts. I wonder if those missing belts could be the reason I don't have vacuum. But the good news is I found the leak!!

Here are a couple of pictures, I guess I'll be ordering a new crank cover gasket.

So 3 years of extreme abuse, and the bolts finally loosened their way out. I have never cracked this engine open as it came to me all decked out with the bells and whistles from Car Parts Plus.

This cart takes so much abuse I thought I'd take the body off and just do a check of everything. I'm so glad I did I found 3 places where the frame welds snapped.
This is not uncommon for me, I actually had my friend make me a custom brace to go all the way across the rear to keep twist to a minimum,
the bone jarring jolts, takes its toll on those aluminum welds.
Today I only found 3 welds that were broken....

Brutal, take notice in this next picture. Notice the bracket that goes all the way across the rear of my frame it's about a foot wide by 3/8 of an inch thick. I also mounted the hitch to that big bracket so that it could actually tow a heavy trailer. The bracket is also removable and can be transferred to another frame. And you could be my long-lost twin brother for sure, I think you are the only person I know who is is hard on their stuff as I am, it's even been said that I'm hard on my women too LOL. But I figured you would appreciate the bracket in might Incorporated into your cart.

Go hard or go home!!!

You might want to consider studs instead of bolts in the side cover.

First thing I noticed was the missing bolts. Just be sure to re torque them periodically.

It's kind of sad really, I pay real close attention to suspension parts, always looking for a loose shackle, or a Helm joint, even the header gets periodically checked, all these things I do and not once did it ever dawn on me to check and see if my cover bolts were tight.
Actually have to take my cart to a welder, and it takes him 2 or 3 days just to get to it. If you look at that one broken weld you will see a bolt that goes through the frame underneath it. The bolt is what I use till I can get back to the welder LOL.
I also notice today, that I have no rear bushings in the shackles or leaf springs. I'm starting to think that I should do a tare down maybe every 6 months, instead of once a year. Looks down at the ground hangs my head in shame kicking rocks thinking maybe it should be more often.....

Good maintenance is hard when its cutting into your riding time. On the other hand -- poor maintenance is going to increase your wrenching time as your kicking the stones and banging your head against the wall. A weekly shake down could also save your life some day.
