Default Help me decide, vc 625 or predator 670 for my g29

Now that they have a kit made for the g29, my mind is thinking about this engine swap now vs the v twin swap.... darn it...
The swap will cost about the same amount more or less I’d say on each.
The 670 with the vc swap kit may be a little cheaper.

Let me hear some thoughts on this.

Any negatives about the engine or the swap?

I don't know about the 670, but I have put two predator 420 in carts and had no issues at all?

How much taller is the Predator, vs a vanguard? Looks to be several inches taller.

I really don’t have any negatives, the wiring diagram was off, but they helped get me through it and actually drew up a new one for this motor. That’s the worse thing I encountered. Everything else went pretty smooth.

Jman, this cart has an 11 hp engine in it already, a stock 420 isn’t a big jump in power vs the v twins or the single 625. It would be a waste going to a stock 420 or even modding one up as I’d want a lot more.

Craig’s, i don’t know to be honest but that’s a good question.

Les good to know

Plenty of positives for the 625. All what you would expect with a huge single cylinder engine. The wiring diagram would have been an issue if Les hadn't shared it with me. That should be resolved after the beta period.

It does vibrate at idle but my idle is pretty low. Choke or not it prefers a blip of the throttle to start at that low setting. After over twenty years of driving fuel injected vehicles I had forgotten how to start a carbureted vehicle.

Putting a HF VTwin in a Yamaha is not a bolt in process. The physical dimensions present a problem. Getting the clutches to align will be the biggest issue. You might have to think outside the box a bit. We have only successfuly installed the Vanguard 23 in Yamaha carts.
That being said, anything is possible.. If you want the twin, you can have it, just takes a little more work.

I had to notch and brace my swing arm to clear the 670 blower housing to get the clutches to line up in my G9. I also dropped and extended it to clear my 25" tires. Its a good thing i did. Engine is still crammed in there. I like cutting/welding and moding stuff so for me it was worth it. Just glad it stays side by side with my neighbors atv.
