V- Twins only
Being a the V-Twin owner myself, I was wondering how many people on this forum run a V-Twin?
And what kind of modifications have they made to the engine. And most importantly how long have you had your V-Twin? This particular motor is two and a half years old, it has been abused and tortured on a regular basis! You can best believe when this engine starts up, it is going to see red line for most of the time it's running, just how I drive, I know most of the V-Twin owners take better care of their carts and engines, then I do. As abusive as I am to my cart, I am anal retentive on maintenance, when it comes to fluid changes. This particular motor came to me all modded out. And has proven itself time and time again.... |

Re: V- Twins only
I've got two kawasaki 23 hp engines, (FD 680D,) that I purchased a couple years ago with intention of putting one in my DS but upon starting them they smoked like a freight train so they sit on my rarely used tool box reminding me to not buy anymore engines off Craigslist.
Supposedly one has 149 hours and the other one has 154 hours on them. Both have the crank that fits a Club Car clutch. The story was that the company that owned the carryalls that they came out of got a big job on one of the lakes in the Ozarks and they needed more powerful machines so rather than buy new ones they opted to replace the engines in the ones they had with bigger engines. One is a 2008 and the other is a 2012 according to the manufacturing numbers on the engines. Both run good no noise just smokes like they are on fire. I opted to put them back and go with a VC460 in my cart instead of tearing into either of these to see what the heck was the problem. Best I could figure it was going to cost me about the same to put one of these in my cart as this 460 cost by the time I bought clutches, mounting plates etc. Anyways I still haven't decided what to do with these engines. I have the service manual for these engines in PDF that I had to pay for also |

Re: V- Twins only
The Cushman Hawk I owned had a 14 hp Briggs. No complaints from me. The Cushman was heavier than a golf cart, but it's what lead me to BGW. Buggy would still make 30mph. Like Dave said, I moved my air cleaner. Where it was located from factory sucked water in. I also love the sound of a V-twin.

Subaru EH720 in a 2000 Ezgo Workhorse. Stock motor has run like a clock since I found the dead igniter which landed this like new motor on CL for $300. I built this cart about 9 or 10 yrs ago

Predator 670 in my g9. Around 2hr when it was stock before I pulled it out and built it.(rods, cam, pushrods, springs&retainers, roller rockers, copper head gaskets, ported heads, bigger jets in carb, homemade header.ect). I have put about 6hr after the build. And I'm not easy on it.

I really like the exhaust system, on this cart it almost looks like a VW Muffler connected to your header pipe...... Does the motor on your cart move up and down? Or is it in a fixed position? I know the club cars move up and down..... So making a transition like that would be difficult... You and a few other people helped me decide on the engine choice I made, it's been an awesome one and I have never looked back... |
