Default Yamaha G11A Yamahauler VC 625 Install

Hello all.

New guy here. I recently picked up a 1994 Yamaha G11A Yamahauler. When I got it, it had the original engine removed by the previous previous owner. Supposedly ran, but smoked. Well it was missing exhaust and a few other parts, so after thinking long and hard about the use, as well as some very serious soul searching (read coors light drinking) I was able to convince my lovely wife that a 23hp 625 kit from vegas carts would make this thing more usable and "save us money" in the long run.

Well she went for it and I couldn't get the order placed with Aaron fast enough. Then FedEx was toying with me and sending messages that the delivery date had been rescheduled and boy what an emotional roller coaster. But I picked up the beast today!

I couldn't wait to get home and start installing. I pretty quickly ran into a problem and contacted Vegas Carts, and their tech support guy commented that he doesn't think he's ever even seen a g11, so he needed pictures to describe the issue. So it isn't looking promising for waking the neighbors up with a running cart a 2am.

So I figured I would come over here and finally join the fray and post my project for all to see. I have been lurking off and on for a good long while, and read basically every thread on the 625 kit so far. You all are pretty knowledgeable folk, so maybe you have some ideas as well. I know the correct forum etiquette is to post pictures early and often, so I will do that. I am sure as this goes along, I will have more questions.

As the pictures illustrate, the bracket that attaches the front of the rear swing arm to the frame interferes with the engine mounting plate sitting flat on the former engine mount locations. I'm guessing that I'll end up just notching the plate to go around that member or making some small spacers to raise it up slightly over that, but I'll wait and see what VC has to say.

Anyway... thank you in advance for the thoughts and comments, and thank you for all the information I've gathered thus far.

Oh also... if anyone has any more information about the G11 golf carts, I'd sure appreciate it. It seems to be a very under appreciated model. I've read that some parts and lift kits and whatnot from other models will work, but can't seem to find that now.

I will likely do a small lift kit to clear bigger more aggressive tires, but I do not want a large lift since I will still be using this mostly as a utility cart around my property. Any advice?

I did order the kit for the g2-g14. Thank you for the welcome. I have many hobbies that all come with slippery slopes... my wife says that my hobby is collecting hobbies.

I just heard back from Geoff at VC. I can't say enough how great these guys have been to work with from the ordering to the figuring out this issue. I think the solution is going to be to put spacers under the engine mount to raise it up over the interference. They are going to send me some billet spacers to raise it up, and I think that will correct any interference issues in that area anyway. I am probably going to try and use some wooden blocks or something to mock everything up and continue trying to figure things out to make sure there aren't any other areas that don't quite work.

Could you have used the original yamaha rubber mounts below the VC engine plate ? That is how my G 14 with a VC 460 is set up. P.S. That engine cradle looks just like my G14 's which differs from the G2's. The G14 has a single pivot mount in the center of the engine cradle where the G 2 has one on each side.

No the 460 and the 625 use different engine mounts. I got the cart without the engine installed, and half the rubber mounts were here and half there... so they would have had to be replaced anyway. I will upload some pictures of it shortly showing the mount installed at least temporarily with some mock spacers to check fitment of everything else.

Here are the pictures that I promised. The first one is the rear support that goes laterally across the engine cradle and supports the rear of the engine mounting plate. The second is with the engine mounting plate installed (please ignore the temporary plywood spacers...I'm just checking fitment and alignment) and the final is with the engine set in place. None of the bolts are tight and as I mentioned, this is just a temporary test fit.

VC is sending some billet spacers. Geoff was very nice about making sure that we came up with a right solution and so I just want to be really clear the the plywood is just temporary for me to test fit everything and work on wiring and plumbing while I'm waiting on the billet spacers. I think they're going to be the ticket, and everything should go together perfectly once I get them installed.

I want to say again how impressed I am with their desire to make this right, and ensure that it works. The kit might be in beta, but their customer service is top notch, and far exceeds any expectations I had going into this, so a big thank you to Aaron, Geoff, and all the staff over at Vegas Carts.

Not only does VC sell good products they make them look good too boot.

I'm somewhere around 93 hours on my 460 and do believe it will last me a lifetime. 8 months or so since I purchased it. I guarantee you I can go out to the shop, pull the choke out hit the starter and it will fire up the first compression stroke. After a few seconds of running I can let off the gas pedal and it will settle down to a 900 to 1000 rpm idle. Sit there and idle all day long if I wanted it too. Put it in gear and hit the go pedal and tear up the ground getting up to speed without any hint of hesitation. What more can a person want?

Thanks Geoffw and Aaron, you guys done good.

in my everyday life I talk their products up. About have the local golf course convinced that they need to check out the engines VC sells. It would save them many hours and lots of money if they would.

I'll put my engine up against any engine out there bar none

I have a question on lift for you all. I want to go bigger tires on this beast because I have hilly property that is mostly grass and mud. The standard golf cart tires just aren't going to cut it, and the ride height is so low that my foot can catch the front splash guard things. Having never driven a lifted cart, I can't tell you for sure, but my intuition tells me that the bigger lifts like the long arm lifts are likely more squishy than a shorter lift. I sure like the price of the economy 4" block lift, but I don't know how that fulfills the criteria I list below. I want to do this once, and I don't want to mess with it down the road. Being as it is a true utility cart, I also don't want to destroy it's usability as a tool.

Here's the question portion of my rambling:

What would be the best lift option given the following criteria (in order of importance)
- Reliability/durability
- Not reducing the load capacity or creating a squishy sloshy ride
- cost
- after sale support
- ability to stuff bigger tires

I have a 12 year old daughter that is absolutely giddy about driving this thing, so I need to get this done sooner than later or she might kill me with her eye daggers (she gets it from her mom).

I've installed a couple of those 4" lifts on G16's with zero problems. 22" tires should fit.
