Default VC 625 starter problem

So I went start my cart last night, and as usual it starts to fire , so I stop and try again as usual,, this time after a couple of turns I get a an unusual clank from the starter, now it won’t turn over, all I get is a click and a whine, not the selonoid I tried a different one. Seems like my cog that spins the flywheel May have locked up of jumped off. Big question is how does one get to the starter? Looks like I have to take the cover off the flywheel? Any other thoughts would be welcome...

Yes you need to pull the fan shroud to get to the starter bolts.

I thought so , that’s gonna be fun without pulling the motor back out, but I will give it a shot

If you need to just unbolt the engines 4 mount bolts and slide it to the clutch side. Only if needed, I can fish out the cover on my 469 without unbolting it. I want to make a trap door for adjusting the VC spark advance unit. This way I won't have to pull the cover anymore

I would contact VC and get their input. Most likely they will warranty a mechanical failure.

I am going to do that tomorrow before I tear into it, although it does not look to be too bad. I am pretty confident it’s the starter, all I get is a whine / whistle out of it
