Default G9 clutch issue with B&S V-Twin

Hello,

I have just finished putting a B&S V-Twin 16 HP into my Yamaha G9 golf cart.

I’m running stock clutches at the moment and have a problem with the cart wanting to take off *** soon as it starts.

Therefore I have to start the cart in gear because it shifts very hard if you start it in neutral.

I’m going to try and reduce the Idle and see if that helps with the clutch engaging early and if that doesn’t work I will try to modify the clutch weights a little at a time.

My intent is to buy a new clutch, but unfortunately can’t swing it right now.

With that being said what would be the recommendation for a new drive clutch?

Here’s what’s been done to my cart;

4 inch lift
20 inch tires (not on th3 cart yet)

Can you move the engine back alittle? You should have some "play" in the belt to be able to idle.

With the engine off I have about 2 to 2 1/2 inches of deflection.

When I start the engine the clutch engages a bit grabbing the belt.

I’m still running the governor on this engine which could be part of my problem.

I’ve been able to adjust the governor off some and added a pull back spring that has lowered the idle and it appears to be working.

Unfortunately, I can’t do a lot of work on this due to recent back surgery, but I intent to remove the govenor and put a new clutch on.

The stock yam clutch has no spring it moves the cart as it turns on ilde position you can use a ez go clutch or a sno mo clutch but not the stock one we sell comet clutchs for straight shaft motors and many taper shaft ones.

They don't work that well for this reason, and you're not supposed to shift carts running anyway. Some clutches will it you do it quick and have a slow idle, I can with my 94C and could with the stock G9 one too, both with a 420 clone. The real key is modding the carb to richen the idle, then you can slow it way down so it is barely running. When my G9 clutch needed grease it would start grabbing the belt, about every month of use. A new belt will be sticky also. Make sure cvt iis aligned well.
