Advice for 18' EFI BigBlock
Hey ya'll, I own Sly Customs and we normally specialize in appearance modification to golf carts, but recently had customer want a brand new 2018 club car but with twice the HP. 2018's are EFI, so I looked up other Subaru EFI engines and found the subaru EH72 UTV.
Question: Anyone put this in an aluminum frame cart before? What clutch did you/would you use? Money is not the issue here. People around here throw money at their golf carts. So what is the best EFI engine to get 23-30hp and what additional parts may be needed. Think of this as paid R&D for the forum!!! In return, i will catalogue the project with pictures, pro's, con's, and learning points to share with the forum and be available for all future questions. Thanks everyone! |

Re: Advice for 18' EFI BigBlock
For an engine upgrade, all of the wiring/computer, if it has one, will be removed. Therefore, you can install whatever will fit under the seat. The cart will most likely have to be lifted.
What is the rotation of the '18 Club Car? If it's still CW, then forward will be reverse and vice versa because the new engine will be CCW rotation. Reverse>lower gear>more torque, less speed>installing high speed gears if speed is what you want. http://www.cartpartsplus.com/perform...-cart-clutches Briggs Vanguard's are popular, and many upgrades are available... Clones, too... |

Another option would be the new vegascarts 625 but you would need to check with them if one of their installation kits would fit that cart.

Re: Advice for 18' EFI BigBlock
We put 6" lifts on our carts. I suppose going carb isnt all that bad. But it may lead to more mechanical maintenance in the future. I was trying to stick to EFI. High speed gears will be a definite.
Any other thoughts or suggestions are highly appreciated. |

Yeah, I found a bolt in kit from cartspartsplus for a quick carb option if I run out of time for ideas. 23hp, high perf cam and rev kit installed. Anyone bought this before?

Top speed 5000+rpm with stock gearing and 23's is probably north of 40. Way too fast for me. Plenty of torque for climbing. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/big-b...amaha-g16.html |

Yes, I have high speed gears as well. Got close to 50 mph and shut it down...stock brakes! Like Dave said, plenty of torque....LOTS!!
