Default yamaha drive Vegas carts big block key switch

I did an 07 g29 with a Vegas carts big block kit. I am trying to figure out how to do the key switch. I bought a Dorman 4 pole switch for the dash. I have battery, ignition, acc, and starter. currently I have lights on acc, battery to battery, starter pole to micro switch on the floor pedal. it works fine but the coil ground is what I am trying to figure out. the instructions say to back idle screw all the way out and it will die. sometimes it does and sometimes it does not. I have a secondary toggle switch from ground to coil that I can use to kill the motor but really want the ignition to be off when the key switch is off. the switch does not have a ground to ignition so I'm lost. any suggestions?

The five wire switch for the 625 engines has a fifth circuit that is constant ground when off. You might use that.

Or maybe your throttle needs a stiffer spring to pull the butterfly completely closed.

I take it you have the 460 and not the 625. Sho 305 has a sticky on wiring a 5 pin relay for this purpose on the top of the clone section.

Hi, this is what I use for any small engine setup with a magneto and electric start. It has 5 wires as follows.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Key-Switch-...wAAOSwYXVYzUCw
1 red = power in
2 black = ground
3 blue = magneto kill wire
4 yellow = power out to whatever = gauges - radio - fuel pump
5 white = starter solenoid trigger.
Can't get much simpler, put a fuse inline with the red wire and the other 4 go where there needed.

What is that, are you using the cart gen/starter or the new engine starter?

If you use the pedal start with the stock gen/starter use the 5 pin relay to kill it, it will kill with the pedal just like stock. You can unplug the relay for emergency starting such as recoil start. Also you need constant power through the pedal to the starter gen while it is running or you wont get battery charging from it. Basically you need the setup that was stock on the cart far as key and pedal. You can put a bypass switch on the pedal to make it idle with no pedal.

If you are using the new engine starter get the right key switch like Shepard says or at least get a B&S switch they have a grounded pole to kill it.

If you have a new clone with the UT2 ignition and two wires out of the coil that is different yet, but the VC460 does not have that far as I know.

***What ever you do, do not put 12v to that kill wire it can blow up the coil.

The switch I'm showing is for a Briggs. It has a magneto kill to ground position
in the switch.
