Default How well do the 6-1 gears work w the vc 625?

Was thinking of going with this combo but wanted to see how it worked if anyone has gone this route

I am probably just as curious as you. Maybe if you posted in ezgo gas as well it might get more attention?

Haven’t found anyone running this combo. Was hoping the torque of the 625 could make up for the 6:1 gears

The 625 in my TXT does a great job with 8:1 gears in it. Power is not going to be a problem with taller gearing. The 6:1 shouldn't either. Something to think about is not if the engine can pull 6:1 but will it make the cart less driveable at very low speed. If you do a lot of slow speed driving it may be tough to moderate the throttle for very tight spaces or if pulling heavy weight like a trailer, etc. We have some pretty steep, long hills on the roads here. Mine pulled a small trailer and three full size men without slowing uphill at 30mph with 8:1 gears.

Tall gearing, heavy loads, and high torque will cause drive belts to wear and stretch faster.

What speeds does your cart pull on flat ground with the 8:1 rooster? I really only do flat ground driving here in Florida.

Top speed at 4000 is around 30-32 with the belt adjusted fairly snug. We cruise at 20-25 comfortably.

Seems like it would be fine, I run a stock 420 with 22 tires it does 31gps at valve float maybe 4300rpm think it was....all stock engine other than jetting, gov removed, car muffler installed. It has much more power than stock can pull trailers and hills easy. I am sure it could run 8:1 easy that would put it around 40mph though which is likely scary fast for that lift. My built up 420 has run 41gps so sure it was way over 5K rpm, no good for cruising but rarely ride over 30 anyway. I'm sure it could run 8:1 too if I used it on the roads, but the stock 420 likely has a little more bottom end.

My point is the 625 much like a V twin has more torque than my 420s do, so unless you hill climb or pull big loads it should be no problem. Even if it is, you can mod the clutches and sure you could get more from it. I was pulling way over 1000lb trailers with my stock engine G9 with 22s, running secondary umax spring, HD kevlar belt, cut secondary sheave, and drilled stock clutch weights....on flat ground, but don't go fast or turn sharp it can be hairy that was way too much load for it. Pulled a V8 19' fiberglass I/O vee boat once that was heaviest and it didn't like it lol but did it.

I put 8:1 in a stock (stock everything including tires) CC and ran 28gps with it hitting the stock rev limit, all I did was adjust the governor up until it hit the rev limit which are typically 4000rpm but not sure.
