GX390 charging coil question
Question on why on the single coil only have a single wire and the two coil setup has two wires from each coil? I would have thought doubling up amperage you would have just used two single wire coils tied into one connector.
Thanks in advance for your help Single wire http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5....m=273781708996 Dual wire http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5....m=173099734323 |

Re: GX390 charging coil question
Not sure why the links broke... Thank you for the feedback on the one wire vs. two wire coils.

Re: GX390 charging coil question
I was thinking about rewinding a pair of 3 amp frames with 16 gauge enamel coated wire. Stripe off the fine wire to start. One thing about 1 and 3 amp coils is they're grounded, one wire on the frame and only have one wire out. I will use 2 wires - 16 ga copper parallel wound so there's a connection on each end of the coil. This way I'll have a 2 wire charge coil. If you wire 2 coils in parallel to each other and use a full wave rectifier -- it will produce about 10 amps like the store bought ones.

Re: GX390 charging coil question
Here's a few pictures of my 18 amp charge system on my Toy. Except for the rectifier -- all parts are Genuine Honda purchased at Boats.net. They are much safer then after market flywheels. All the bolts and brackets are Honda and I can say there special made to stay tight. You want that under the flywheel. This is compact and really cleans up the engine bay. It requires HP weather your spinning this or a generator -- this uses less HP then a belt driven generator
