Default Vanguard intake ducts

I know many of the vanguard owners here have changed the way their motors take in air to feed the carburetor.
I actually think Shepherd has the one I'm looking for, but it's been a while so I'm asking members to post different intake set ups, for the 2 barrel carburetor.
I've been putting off making the change, I now it is time....

This probably isn't what you're looking for but I always turn my carbs outward and use the factory cleaner housing on its side. Looks pretty slick.

It's my 96 G16. Stuffed the Vanguard in there with no lift! Part of the reason why I turned the air cleaner. You think Vanguards have a lot of torque in lifted carts with big tires? You should feel that torque turning over stock tires! It's a sleeper and fast as hell!

There's to much junk on the intake manifold with 2 elbows and whatever else. Strip all that off and put this on the manifold directly. You may have to make an adapter plate but this removes a lot of restrictions in the intake manifold.

I got rid of the OEM setup and went with an external filter for a Kohler zero turn. The intake elbow is Briggs #798860. 2" central vacuum hose.

Dave has the setup I was looking for, with all the rain we have been having, some of our streets have anywhere between a foot and 2 foot of water standing, surprisingly the belt and clutches, seem to be working even when submerged in water. And yes there is slippage, but it gose through it!!
I have the original air cleaner that came on my 23, taped up one corner of the air filter housing, that corner seems to be my problem, corner that I'm talking about seems to be air that is pushed from the flywheel. I took the top lid off of the stock air filter box and left the k&n filter on, it runs so much better but in the end I had to put the top back on.

So I'm going to go with Daves setup, and maybe put a fan in between to help air flow.

I like the fact we have so many members on this forum, and all the different solutions that the members keep coming up with,
I would still like to see more setups... ..

I'm not understanding the fan idea...Are you talking about putting a fan in the intake hose?

Extreme dust, and muddy water splashing the engine/air filter is why I made the switch. In extremely dusty conditions, like at CAW, the OEM filter always let dirt get into the carb, and splashing water/mud would get into the filter.

Nothing gets past the filter now. I don't even use the smaller internal filter element.

This is the carb after a weekend in the dust at CAW. Spotless.

I plan on running it like Dave, with the exception I'm running a cheap Spectre filter, I was just kidding about the electric fan LOL turn it into a ram air still smirking. This is what it's for.
