Default B/S 18 opposed in a 91 G2

Hi I just finished the install of a briggs opposed 18HP in my 91 G2. It was a tight fit. I had to notch the frame. The only mod to the engine I did is build a header to exit out the back of the cart and unhooked the gov. Im running a comet 94C with the stock driven clutch and the stock belt. I added pucks which made a big differance off the line. Droped the swing arm 3" and droped the engine mount 2". I also lifted the cart around 12".In the rear I used Gabriel red rider heavy duty shocks with helper springs from auto zone. The springs are adjustable using a spring compressor and clamps to hold the spring in place. In the front I left the stock coilovers and made the mounts longer. I had to pull the a-arms and cut them to correct caster and camber. It was fun and lots of long hrs. Next is wheels, tires and spacers. It will be used for hunting and fishing and (Hunny do list yard work) I have pics and as soon as I find the USB cable I will post them.

Sounds like you did a good job, can't wait for the pics! Not many opposed B/S here, but they are favorites in some racing mower classes, tons of torque!

well first off the engine I thought was a 18 hp turns out the lawn mower shop told me wrong its a 16 hp. Anyway I got the engine in and not long after a rod started knocking. Its an old engine built in 1983 who knows if it was taken care of or how hard it was used . I got a new rod and a rering kit and rebuilt it. the only mods to the engine are a home made 2 into 1 header and removed the govener. I also had to notch the frame for clearance of the flywheel. Even before the rod started knocking it had a butt load of bottom end torque. here are some better pics.

I just added 3 more pucks. The part # is 206514A, They come in sets of 3. I kept the pink spring that came in the clutch. Like I said it's quick off idle but I'm going to get the orange spring its a lower compresion rate and will get the RPMs down.
