The universal key switch that a Kawasaki mechanic suggested to use didn't have a post for the ground. I had a feeling that was causing the problem so I tried using a 5 post key switch with a ground. Sure enough it works.
mb523, I'm working on getting some pictures of it. That is one huge(tall) engine. I have a 7'' lift on the horse and that wasn't even enough to clear the top of the engine.

I dropped the front of the motor mount down about 4" and that gave just enough room to clear the top of the air filter.
