Default comet 780 question

ok guys, i have a 16hp vanguard with a 1 inch keyed shaft. it is 3 inches long. will a comet 780 fit or will i need to trim the shaft shorter?

That's a typical shaft length, should not be a problem for most carts.

thanks flintrock, that gives me peace of mind. im trying to use my stock clutch but if that falls through I'll go with a 94c or 780.

a stock 4 cycle clutch works very well with the 16hp.

hey pizzamaker good to hear from you, i saw that on someones thread you posted in but how deep do you machine the stock shaft to sleeve it for 1" before it gets to week?

you need to machine all the stock from the clutch and not the shaft! i machined a taper on my crank to fit the clutch because it started out as a tapered generator shaft.

no flintrock my shaft is straight but i saw a thread that a guy milled and sleaved the clutch to fit the one inch shaft.
