Default K&N vs UNI

Anybody care to weigh in on which is better and why? I will be running my V-twin in a very dusty environment.....

K&N have a layer of gauze but I always use an outerwear with mine because the gauze in the filter seems to trap dirt permanently and then its hard to tell how well theyre oiled once you clean them. The UNI seems to come cleaner under the same usage.

My personal preference is UNI

i use an UNI on a 150cc dune buggie. Total dusty dirt track. I love the uni bc it has the outer foam filter so you can just clean it after each time out and clean the main one once a month etc.

yeah, and you can leave that outer filter dry for really dusty conditions and it doesnt pack up with dirt, making it easier to clean

All the motocross bikes use foam. They work in dusty places and are easy to clean. You can use gas, soap and water, dry and oil. You can also service a foam without a kit, anywhere. Almost any oil will work. I used Uni filters or stock foam.
If you clamp your filter on disregard this, If it butts to a flat area, use grease to improve and dustproof the sealing surfaces.

I run my dune buggie on a dirt track. Not wetted. My truck has a K&N and it is harder to clean than the dune buggie and I don't even drive the truck on the track. hahaha. And red clay dust is way worse than sand. Does sand turn clay jar hard after it gets wet and dries from the heat of the engine. hahaha. I think not.

do you have the outer filter on your K&N ?sand dry's and sticks.not as bad as clay.with the outer filter all you have to do is wipe it with a wet rag.not go thru the oil clean.jus sayin.

the K&N in my truck is custom one to fit the factory air box.

I have a uni on the Dune Buggie. I love it bc i can put the whole thing in the sink and sqwish and scrub on it. The K&N has the wire mesh and you can bend and break it if you aren't careful.
