Vanguard engine is really noisy...lifters?
I have a fairly recent model Columbia Utili-truck with a Vanguard 14hp? Single cylinder engine. It makes a lot of noise running and it would almost seem a rod is knocking from the sound...is this a lifter issue? New to the Vanguard engine scene...any help would be appreciated.

Rattling sound is more correct...click, clack sound at idle that moves up to a pretty solid roar at rpm...cart was modified somehow to make some sweet top end speed...would be great to quiet it down though...how does one adjust this valve train noise...first vanguard (note, my neighbor has the same cart and his has the same sound, just MUCH quieter than mine).
