Default Marathon with 16HP vanny build

I started to put the 16HP vanguard in my 93 Marathon. This is the one I had the Ski Doo engine in.

I set the engine in using the stock engine mounts front & back. It hit the side of the brackets so I cut the top of the brackets off. I got the engine sitting on the mounts at the bottom. I don't have a cluch yet but the engine is to far to the clutch side. I can't move it over because the engine hits the right front motor mount tower.

Any general estimate on the distance the engine cover on the clutch side is back from the driven clutch centerline?

I will get some pictures tomorrow. Off to the Woodward Dream cruise to look at all the cars.

Here are some pictures of the engine mount. With the engine sitting on the mount I have about 1" between the top of the eng & seat. I also know my shift cables are long enough with this setup.

I am tryong to keep the origional engine mount setup with the mounting rubbers. Not sure how important they are for vibration or whatever.
Looks like I need to move the eng over about 3" for the clutches to line up. I would need to cut a lot of the mount tower to move it over.

The strap on the bottom of the cradle is to temp hold the front & back in place. This would be replaced by a plate for the eng to sit on

Any ideas or comments

i like the idea of trying to use the rubber mounts, the front mounts are a little hard to deal with.

looks good

What is the possibilty of "Flipping" the stock mounts upside down, and the widening the stock cradle to mount underneath? This may gain you enough room..On most BB's with any amount of lift this would lower the engine cradle to level the new motor, which would be a plus........Hard to tell geometry from the pics......

Looks like I can move the front right mount out about 2" to the radius of the frame tube. I can also cut some off the inside of the mount up to the iso pad

When you machine the stock clutch for the 1" vanny shaft do you have to remove the shaft from the clutch? Looks like it is locked in with a roll pin.

I moved the right front mount over 3" I also cut & extended the cradell to match the mount. The mount is just tacked in for now. I need to get the clutch on the engine to be sure it will fit. Hope to get the clutch done tomorrow
