Vertical shaft
ok sounds wierd found a 20 hp briggs v twin in the back of the shop. only thing is its a vertical shaft. i guess out of a lawn mower. anyone have an idea how if possible to make this work in a cart?

i was kind thinking multi speed rear end and some pully placement a lot like my racin mowers use to be. but i guess not. hey just a thought. they call me redneck for a reason.

thought about this too!!!! i was thinking of a peerless chain drive trans, removing the drive clutch on the cart, installing gear and mounting it all up. it really should work. u will have the original trans gears and the peerless trans gears. NOW on the speed aspect of it but it should work.

Yeah the only thing im worried about will be the shortness of gears it would either pull a house down or chase down a jet but i dont know if it will do both????

Get a 2 stoke marathon rearend and turn the pumpkin so the input pully is horitontal. This might work. The only thing I would worry about is if this would not allow proper rearend lubrication by mounting it in this position. The down side, no reverse.
