Default help cart stranded, 18hp honda issue - tks for help

I was driving down the road about 3/4 speed and the engine just started to sputter and die. then the engine would just idle at best and then die. my first thought was it was starved for fuel. I replaced the inline filter - this did not help..... it still just idles some and dies. it will idle longer if i continue to pull the choke.

any suggestions. it is a 18hp honda, EzGo ST 4x4, 2005

Thank YOU!

Check the throttle linkage? Is the throttle plate operating?

Certainly sound like a fuel issue.

That's a lot easier than no fire or compression.

I'd rather have a fuel problem than any other. Have you pulled the fuel line from
the carb and turned it over to see if you actually have pressure ?

There are only so many links between the tank and your carb..just take a break
and go back to it.

scottyb.
if i understand the throttle linkage question. I think it is ok. if i give it gas it use make the "baaa" sound and dies. so i know the gas petal / throttle is doing something.

You could have fouled your plugs...

csason,
so i could take the fuel line off at the inline filter, then turn over the engine to see if i am getting some suction on the hose trying to suck in fuel?????

sorry for my basic questions.

THANKS ALL FOR HELP

Have you changed your plugs yet? Try this before you start performing surgery on the fuel system! I've built numerous Honda powered carts and it sounds like what I've seen from a fouled plug. Once one is fouled, then the other shortly fails if you continue to operate the cart.

"Just sayin"...

but, new plugs are a quick, easy, cheap, try.....
THANKS - steve

will buy plugs in the AM...
I dont have an owners manual and will be buying them at a auto parts store not the EZGO place. Any suggestion on Brand / type of plug... I can pull the plug and check but that will require me to make a trip to the cart where it is stranded two times....
THANKS AGAIN ALL
