Default robin ?

is the robin eng. worth having? think it was advertised as 10 hp? would the 13 hp honda or clone be that much stronger? can you hop up the robin?

i also have a club car clone built by a guy that use to be located here in town. the frame was built by a shop in alabama. its 48v but the guy set it up with the wrong motor (10hp high speed vs. a high tork?) and i burnt the 500 amp controller. the cart is only 3 yrs old and was thinkin of a gas swap. found a sled sitting in a back yard and inquired, owner out of town still waiting on call ??? i know i will need gas axle and some fab. dont think the swap is beyond my fab level. but my question is the axle? i will need to mod the frame for sure. but if i build the swing arm and eng. plate as a "drive unit" it should just be a matter of mounting it, the "drive unit" to the frame. now the axle question.... i have the ezgo and can see this axle. if im going to build the whole unit would the ezgo be a good choice? are they all baisiclly the same?

another question and swap

what is a common gear raito in the electeic axle?

thinkin of an older 2 wheel drive, chain drive, auto clutch, quad motor w/ its own reverse. use the electric axle. remove the electric motor and adapt a chain drive to the axle in its place. again i would need to build this as a power unit and mount it to the frame.

what do ya think? seems like an easy swap. just need to figure out the sprocket set up to work with the gear raito. with out a lot of thought it seems it would be a compound lower raito so a smaller displacement motor (say 300 cc or about) would move the heavier cart pretty good.

disk front brakes ? how hard to install ? will it work with the mech. rear drums?

lots of ideas. i do have good fab skills and common knowledge. just not to famillar with the carts. and with a family and all that goes with it, and too many other hobbys the budget is thin.

Default Re: robin ?

Looks like this post slipped thru the cracks? I'll try but it will take more than 1 to answer it all ......
Robin made a very bunch of engines all of them worth having from the 9hp to the 25 Vtwin.
Better quality and I would bet greater longevity than a honda clone....

CC gas and electric frame width differes in the engine/battery bay. Look closely at the gas tank mount? Also 97 & up CC transaxles rotate clockwise

THere is a kit or two for disc front brakes but like cars did, I think everybody will eventually go to 4 wheel disc. They work good.
