i did some trading with a guy from work and got a low hrs, vany.i removed the crank.can it be turned down or is it better (simpler) to replace it with a 1" keyed shaft.cents it torn down what can i add on the rebuild to increase the horse power with out costing a fortune.ive still got to pay the cradle and a clutch.

Are you talking about the PTO end of the crank or turning the crankpin to an undersize?

Depends on what the output shaft looks like.

Lots of clutches for 1" and 1 1/8" shafts.. and I am having a generator shaft
turned down to the standard EZ go taper, so I can use my stock clutch.

I am going very slow with mine due to money, and I am not looking to build a
race cart, just would like to have an excess of power if needed, and to pull
a boat or jetski out of my lake.

Seems the most probable course of action is to have it turned to 1"
if you are going to buy a clutch, as those seem to be the most available.

I would remove the govenor and buy the rev kit from one of our sponsors. Get the timing advance key also. Thats a lot of bang for the buck. Then if you can afford buy or build some headers, then re-jet your carb.

I'm a Briggs dealer, give me your model and type code and I'll look it up for you. I suspect a new shaft is expensive.

Think I would concentrate on finding the clutch you want to run first, then worry about the turning the crank end....... I wouldn't worry about the mess with the head gaskets, not much payback there unless you've already done major other mods, flattop pistons, cam, longer rods etc.....

Well, the bad news from that model number is that it doesn't have an alternator, so you are going to need a different flywheel and a charging electronics if you want to keep the battery charged......
