Default 91 ClubCar CarryAll 2...18 hp Briggs

I have a 91 ClubCar CarryAll 2 that I want to put a 18 hp Briggs in...Not intrested in speed at all...all i'm after is torque....my stock clubcar clutch has been machined to fit a 1" shaft and i'm trying to find out if that clutch will work with the 18hp Briggs.....and yes I know i'm gonna have to drive the cart in reverse to go forward....just wanna know if my stock clutch will work like its suppose to on the 18hp briggs

From what I understand, your cart will work like it's supposed to. It's the 97 and up that cause the problem. From Cart Parts plus:

Quote:
Due to the counter clockwise rotation of this motor shifter operation will be reversed in the 97 and up kits . This results in additional torque gain from a slightly lower gear ratio. If top speed is priority High speed gears may also be added.

Someone who knows more than me will be along shortly.

Yeah, u have the right year for everything to stay the same. I have a 90 and its the same thing. But to answer your question about the clutch, I don't know, sorry. What's wrong with the flathead motor?

from all the research i have been doing... that should work just fine for you... the stock clutches that is... the hp shouldn't effect it... its more the overall rpm that would cause malfunction. and your cart will go forward in forward.. and reverse in reverse... pre 97 runs correctly.. i have a 95 and it works great.. im putting an 18hp kohler in it currently..

That is best... cause both clutches are balanced to work off of eachother! With the weights ETC....
