I ordered one in for a friend of mine. He has it in his running around cart and loves it.

The whole bottom end is forged steel. Connecting rods and crank.

Crank and rods are pressure fed oil.

Rod bearing Inserts.

We pulled the side cover to check it out.

Compression Ratio is 9.3:1. Combustion Chambers in the heads are Hemi-style.

CDI Ignition with built-in timing curve also a built-in Rev limiter. Still has mechanical Governor as a backup.

Has external push rod tubes and Aluminum pushrods.

Looks like a motorcycle engine.

I just couldn't get over how quiet it is.

Really a nice engine. Still going for a premium right now.

There's a big difference. The Honda 690 is not 24hp. It is 22.3 (NP) Net Pwr which is about 28hp. Honda measures their HP by net pwr.
The new Honda 660 is about 21.5 (NP) which is 24hp. Which is the replacement for the old Honda 670 24hp. The 690 is a quite, stronger and much lighter engine than the past 600 series engines.

The only problem is that the Jugs and the Cylinder heads are one piece.

So if either breaks you have to replace them both. SHouldn't be an issue until 1000+ hours, but still an issue.

They are great engines.

Sounds nice unless you want to mod it, and what RPM is the rev limit at?
