Thats a $1300 motor right there plus shipping, ouch..... Unless you have or got that generator at a good deal. What kind of motor is it though? I love diesels, too bad cummins doesnt make a baby like the 6bt or 4bt engine.

yea found the motor for around $500 I think it's a clone off of a yanmar or a hatz engine. I agree if cummins made a engine that small that would be so cool. What rpm do you think that I should get the clutch engage at or do i have to play around with that.

the small diesel engines should get around 3500 rpm so you would meed to exploit the extra torque and run a faster gear set to get high speeds

yea was wanting to get 8:1 gear and 28's just to tool around with as a trail rig should have decent get up and go and still have some torque to pull it around

as far as a clutch goes you could use a belt tention system so you can set any rpm you want and just leave the engine at a constant speed to save fuel

i used 8:1 ratio in the rear end that i have. it goes about 41mph after we messed with the gov. the clutch i used was a comet 1190 from cpp with weakest springs in it. the 1190 might work on your (10hp) motor, but im not sure. my max rpm is 3800. do you know what yours is? if it is 3500 you should do ok i would think.
