Kawasaki 440 Ltd 4/6 W/Dual plug head liquid cooled electric start for golf cart

I have a 81 Kawasaki 440 Ltd 4/6 W/Dual plug head. that is electric start and liquid cooled. this motor was one heck of a motor in its day i have read it makes about 84hp and have seen it run on our old go cart, blew the bubble tires off the rims,lol since then it has been overheated( too small of a radiator) and limited air flow were the problem. i am in the process of rebuilding the top end due to rings melted to one of the pistons, after that i plan on adding a much larger radiator, and fitting it into a golf cart, not sure what to put it in yet, i guess ill have to see what i can find cheap. really dont think i want to run a stock rear end as the gearing is too high for my taste and really dont want a one wheel peel.
So im thinking of running the engine with primary clutch to a jack shaft with a secondary clutch,( i have this from the original sled as well) and on the other side of the jackshaft a sprocket and chain to a solid rear axle so i have more control over gearing. i know i wont have reverse has any one done a jackshaft setup with good results? also open to other ideas that may be better. I plan to do all the work myself, and am skilled with cutting and welding.
