G2 project
Finally putting the finishing touches on my G2. I bought a used 16hp Vangaurd last fall and got a new Comet 780 clutch for a really good price. Tires and wheels are off of a Polaris Trail Boss. Rear ones bolt right on but i had to have an adapter cut on the water jet for the front ones. I built the front, raising it 4" and widening it 2". The rear shocks are air shocks off of a Gold Wing motorcycle and the work awesome. I also lowered the engine cradle at the front and extended it back. New front and rear bumper and and rebuilt the rear body structure.
I'll have to get some more pictures of the new paint. It is now a bright orange, real close to Hugger Orange. Now all I need is seats...but, I found some... |

Re: G2 project
Nice job on the G2! Have you had a chance to log any miles on those Goldwing air shocks. Looks like a great fit / idea.

Re: G2 project
The shocks work great. I've even got an on board compressor for them to be added yet.

Re: G2 project
That's great news. I like the idea of being able to adjust for changing loads. Any words of advice to anyone (me) looking to adopt your idea?

Re: G2 project
I think I can get some more of the clutches. They are brand new. Email me or call for price. 419-295-6897, firefarm@hotmail.com
I bought a set of shocks off of ebay from an 82 Gold Wing. Make sure you get the hoses and the schrader valve with them. The bottoms will bolt right into the same stock location on a Yamaha. On the top, I lowered the mounts by putting a piece of 1/8" X 1" flat strap between the frame on both sides and made a bushing through the shock. I drilled the frame on the top and ran the hose through it. |
