Default Hyundia cart

Ok it's not the most popular cart , but , I have one bad engine ( already pulled ) it has/had a 7/8 " belt ,, will the comet 780 clutch handel this width belt , if not is there a way to make the driven clutch wider for a wider belt that the 780 will handel .
I have 21 inches of head clearence in the engine compartment ,could almost put a 4 cyl in it .
The old clutch ( seemed to be ok ) has a very slight taper shaft with the large end measuring 1.167. an new to carts got my first in Dec and now have 4 in the family all sparky's .also would a lift kit actually move thr frams & rear end up as it only has 3" ground clearence on the center of the rear end . 13" honda rims maby .

Thats a narrow belt!Maybe another type of clutch could replace the rear clutch.

I broke the clutch getting it off , finally had to remove the shocks and loose the rear end ,got a good club car clutch and spaced it out to 1 3/16 and got everything bolted back down , almost ready to mount my engine ,after I get the clutch and 2 spacers for the rear wheels , drive belt. On this Hyundai the throttle has a joint in it on top of the rear end , dana rear end does this operate anything necessary for the rear end ?

not sure but if its like an ezgo that would be a mechanical governor or speed limiter. When the rear gets spinning to fast it pulls back on the throttle to slow it down. I have heard about them breaking on the ezgos and causing damage to the rearend.

If its like my neighbor's hyndai it is just like the govenor setup on a Yamaha G2 or G9. Check out some of the pics of governors in the Yamaha Gas section and see if that looks like what you have. If so, the same fixes should apply.

Update - the opposed twin 18 was wider than expected - put a modified club car driven clutch on and spaced it out ¾" - removed 12 inches of 2" round tube from trailing arm on opposite side from clutch , put in a piece of 2x2x¼" algle to cap the outside and bottom of opening - this gives me ¾+ 2" on width which is plenty for the engine - decided that while everything was out I would move the rear end back 1" to better center it up in fenderwell .- now just put it all back together and go . this fine tuning a cart is easier than building a racing lawnmower .

That looks gd. Where did you find the 18? What was it used for or in? Wish I could find something like it...
