how big is big
when an 8.5 hp engine came stock in a cart would 13 be big ?
does big have to have 2 cylinders ? "big block " just isn't defenitive enough . |

Re: how big is big
It's just a 'term', I have always thought of a 24 hp or larger fits that category, but some are dropping that down in the 18hp range. What does everyone think - should we put limits or make an official Websters definition? LOL

Re: how big is big
I'd like to have Tom at CPP weigh in on this one.
I have a 16hp Kawasaki watercooled V-twin and I would definitely consider it a big block. GPS'd with stock clutches at 39mph. The custom cart shop here in town was putting the same motor in Club Cars and the 24hp Honda in Ezgos. As I said. I like to hear Tom's take on this subject. Boo |

Re: how big is big
I'm not knocking anyone here just wondering what others think , personally I would concider anything 25% larger than what came in the cart to be big .

Re: how big is big
So does mine... in fact it said I have to stay home if I don't go big block.
You and I have the same motor sundown, and I definitely consider it a big block.. considering that it's almost twice the 9hp it came with I'd have to say it qualifies. Boo |

Re: how big is big
"Just do It"... If you have the engine and you can make it work......Your a "builder" with a fantastic car! And everyone would ask "how did you do it" I'd say it was a Big Block! Now if you put a blower or super charger on it.....I'd say you were extreme!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or "nuts"! But then agian......I'm nuts! Later Dave

Re: how big is big
Look up big block in my book and you would find it to say something like this. Something in between these two.
A golf cart capable of of putting a grin on your face you couldn't wash off with comet and a brillo pad. And a golf cart capable of making you soil your favorite pants. What you start out with is not important, Its what you end up with. Besides it sounds better when somebody ask "what is that" And you reply "It's a golf cart with a big block". Instead of saying "That thing will make you **** your pants"....LOL |
