kawasaki LC V twins
I would like to know what the pro's think about the liquid cooled kawasaki vtwins like the 27 or 29 hp. Is there any aftermarket available for these, cause i havent been able to locate much for them. It seams as tho most folks that i know do like the performance of them. I know the Briggs Vtwins are pretty much the standard BB upgrade but i am curious as to what yall think about the kawasaki's.

Re: kawasaki LC V twins
From what I know they are taller than the Vannys but are one heck of a good engine in the stock form. Cooling system placement is the main issue but if I found one reasonable I wouldn't hesitate! I think CPP or someone did use them in conversions at one time so there should be more info out there...

Re: kawasaki LC V twins
From what ive found on the Net, Kohler performance items bring a premium just like there engines do. Obviously a very nice engine. But im definately intrigued by the kawasaki engines seem to be as u said Flint very strong in stock form. Should be able to make a fire breather out of one with a few mods.

Re: kawasaki LC V twins
Im not sure why but, i want to build up a gas cart but not necessarily with a briggs motor. Maybe just to be different, allthough when it comes down to it cost versus benefit may just convert me on over to the briggs vanguard. There are so many carts to get ideas from on this forum. Some very talented folks here. There is everything from high class pimped out golf course cruiser, to full on drag race and mudders and sand buggies. Its like info overload trying to take all this in. Anyway i think for me sticking with a commercial type motor will be the more simple yet very effective route to a Big Block Buggy.

Re: kawasaki LC V twins
I had the 29HP fuel injected in a club it was awesome. Only reason I let it go was everybody who seen it asked why I sold Vannys and drove a Kawi
Heres the only pic I have tonight. We sold 100s of the 16hp liquids but price just went out of sight. Parts are very high, the radiator on the 16 was $600 and UPS was hard on em. Had problems with 1 out of probably 400 sold Heres a little info on cart. I'm sure I have some engine pics at the shop. http://forums.cartpartsplus.com/view...?t=207&start=0 |

That sux, you spend a lot now and have to spend a lot later again if you need parts.

Re: kawasaki LC V twins
I had the 16HP water cooler Kawi and LOVED it. Sadly, I sold the cart but I can't say enough good about that motor. Got it from Tom at CPP back when he still sold them, and before the price went crazy.

Re: kawasaki LC V twins
Thanks for the reply's, Tom your cart there is one mean ride. I'm kinda thinking i want something similar. I really want a lifted limo cart with a similar styled roll cage, and a monster motor with super reliability. Probably an Ezgo limo with that motor if i can find THE deal. Really nice cart man.

Re: kawasaki LC V twins
I was thinking how cool it would be to make a cart with a longer cradle and stick two 16hp clones on it. If you could put a gear on the back of the clutch you could run the second one right to it and they will fit pretty close together. If they don't fire at the same time one starter would likely turn them over. However I did find out the 13hp will rev higher stock, hey 26hp is not that bad lol but 32hp with the piles of torque those have out of the hole would be something. I was just told I can get a cam that will run the rpm up on the 16hp without getting radical with a bunch of parts but no details yet. They might be able to regrind the stock cam a little.
Yes the Kaw is a great engine stock, they run good rpm some say better than a stock B&S. But the Vanguard is an Asian engine like the Kaw, they are close to the same thing. Hard to top the Vanguard really, that and an Ezgo you can mod to your hearts content with ease. I would buy those if that was my plan or switch to some kind of bike or ATV engine. A big polaris ATV with the CVT would be cool to see in one. The carbs and ignition systems sure are more advanced on the ATV/bike engines. |
