clutch will not close
hey guys i just put on my clutch and when i rev it up the clutch on the engine closes in to grab the belt, but when it is not revving it does not close/release
there was a thread on this but i can not find it any help please |

Comet / Salisbury drive clutches Model # 302717C. 1.125 Shaft with ¼ inch keyway i think its the 1190 series if i remember correctly won it off ebay so if this is caused by the clutch being broke ill send it back for a refund |

i looked at that but did not explain why it does this and how to fix it,....its brand new so i might just ask for a refund and buy something else from are sponsors

I think it needs the belt tension to close.

when it pops open i can close it with my hand, but when i do that it closes fast

A picture would be nice ..and it would allow a positive identification of the clutch..I have a 1190 and if you rev it (WITHOUT) a belt it will indeed open and stay open ...put on a belt and 1. jack the rear wheels off the ground before reving the motor or 2. not my choice take transaxle out of gear before reving motor..pretty sure you will find clutch will work...hope this helps
