Electronic choke
Well, here's my idea. The ignition switch I bought for my workhorse / Honda 20 conversion is for a Harley with a "push to choke" feature.
So, I wanted to put in a servo motor to use the push on the key switch to choke. My thought was something like pictured. The problem is, it's a 4.8 volt servo. How can I easily step the voltage and amps down from 12 to 4.8? |

Re: Electronic choke
You want to waste that feature on a CHOKE? What about Nitrous injection instead?

Re: Electronic choke
Scott, a servo like that won't work. It doesn't work like a simple on/off, it has a positive, negative and a signal wire. Signal is controlled by PWM. (pulse width modulation) You CAN find different servos that will work, just not that one. Dooms is on the right track too, something like that would work.
You can get step downs on the cheap for servos. |

Re: Electronic choke
I "think" something like a "Retract" servo would work, not sure. Those move full lock to lock.
Something like this I think. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...341&aff=277578 Then a voltage step down. AKA "BEC", this one is 8-40 VDC input to 5VDC or 6VDC output @5 amps. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...313&aff=277578 |

Re: Electronic choke
Ess, I used a 12v trunk lock actuator from a car to work the choke on the Yamazuki, works really well and very strong.
Cheap at a junkyard. FYI, If anyone is interested some of the marine/boat ignition switches have the same push to choke feature and are cheap from ebay. "Harley" ouch! $$$$$$$$ |
