Default has anyone seen, used one of these?

Found one of these, thought it would be sweet if a way could be found to put it in a cart. Flywheel can be taken off and shaft used

come complete with electronic radio frequency suppressed, waterproof ignition, with shielded spark plugs, and put out about 20 horsepower with the standard carburetor.

This is an unused Military Standard 32 c.i.d horizontally opposed air cooled gasoline engine. This is a Military Standard engine, used on a number of pieces of equipment such as generators, pumps, welders, etc. The military doesn't rate horsepower on engines the same way civilian engines are rated, but our dyno experience has shown it to be in the 15-20 HP range. Uses a standard, civilian, spin-on oil filter. Ignition is magneto type, which allows engine to run without battery power. Fuel pump allows use of an external tank. Unit has oil pump and an exhaust manifold on each side to which a muffler/mufflers can be easily attached. It has a horizontal crankshaft with a drilled and tapped flywheel for output connection, shown in second photo. This motor has a pull start, we do have electric starters available. This is a beautiful, tough, smooth little 4 cylinder that's perfect for lots of projects! By the way, the US Military paid $2,400 each for these engines! Dimensions are: 20"L x 19"W x 14"H. Weight 155 lbs. Cannot go UPS. Call for shipping rates.

Salty...
Where the heck did you get that? I worked on them when I was in the USMC. Great little engines. Ship it to me and I can get it to fit! LOL. The ones I worked on were all drab olive green. But they are the almost kill proof. Adapeter work wonders to get anything to fit. What are yo putting it in? I want pics!!!!

actually take the pulley of and their is supposed to be a 1: shaft under their. We have a local guy in sacramento selling them for $300. the problem is the starter is really oddball. Starter is a extra $150

i haven't actually got it............. yet :)

they are a military engine, crated in 1991. deregulated to 6hp, but supposedly can get 20 after bypassing the gov. i imagine the dudes have pretty good power, the top (red) picture i got off an ultralite site, while doing some research. the pics of the olive drab ones i got off another site.

found it on ebay, while browsing for an engine. not an expert on engines, but wouldn't a 4 cyl have like at least twice as much torque as a 2 cyl?

it looks deceptively large - 20"lx19"wx14"h. I've been working since i found it, so haven't been able to look and do some measuring.

shoot, for the price of a big block kit, you could buy this engine, a starter and a hot hooker! :P

Well if I can remember......NA I can't! Getting too old! LOL

Some had starters of the 24volt vintage and some were pull rope start. The pull rope ones usually got starters fairly quick as an after thought MOD. A lot of tore up fingers from the pull rope. Like any pull rope starting engines they are a little difficult when in cold enviorment and then add the fact that there are four cylinders to try to turn all at the same time....WA_LA starter conversion. These $150 starters are they 12VDC or 24VDC? I really want one of these with a 12 vdc starter. As far as having more torque...Does a single cylinder golf cart have as much torque as a two cylinder? Now x4? I would think it would have at least twice the torque of a V-twin and run a lot smoother with 4 cyl working. OK Where do I get one! Thaks Salty...Making me rethink my next build...LOL

Has anybody got any salt and peper? Or maybe some hot sause? This is where I have to eat crow and I want to be at least bearable...I laid awake ALL NIGHT last night thinking about this darned engine and the possibilities that I could do with it. So now I don't want it. Anything that interferres that much with my sleep had better have blond hair, blue eyes, and leggs attached. I really do want it but come to realize that I need to get my current project finished and then the next ones in line before I even think about adding another radical build such as this. Look quick there goes another crow!!! In the middle of work today I almost fell asleep at my desk dreaming about yet another design. I have got to quit! This is addictive as he)). Salty, thanks for the info you sent me and for a sleepless night...LOL. If in fact you do get one of these and need some help....ask some one else....
ROFLMAO. No I would be glad to suggest what you could do with it..

ROFLMAO!!! you're welcome, Roger!!!

if it makes you feel any better, i've been thinking about it all the time, as well (haven't lost any sleep, but have thought about it until sleep and as soon as i wake up).

my friggin wife won't let me get it!!!!!!!

thought i could use the fact that this would be close to $1000 less than a bb kit. nope, didn't work.

(and, lest everyone think i'm whipped, i am. but, everytime i bring up a new engine, i get: "what's wrong with the one you have; i thought you just wanted to get it to fart around in; i think we need a new vaccuum cleaner before a new engine; i think we need buy this for the house; i think we needed to fix this; blah, blah, blah."

be not mistaken, though. i WILL get one!!! someday. oh, yes. i WILL.

i need this engine.

fyi for anyone interested, mounting holes are 6-1/2" apart in front, 10" apart in rear, and 14-3/4 front to rear.

i don't think this is such an impossible thing to do. am i nuts?
