Default Does anyone know

does anyone know what rearend raito I have, I don't have it apart to count the ring and pinion. It takes 5.75 turns of input shaft to turn axle once. all the cart raitos talk about 12,11,8 raitos. thanks I hear the most common stock is 11 to 1. Have not had the rear apart, there must be some gearing inside the rear if I have a 11 to 1, but a final drive of 5.75 to 1.

A cart rear? You have what you have long as both axles are turning once (posi). Otherwise the diff will make one axle turn twice as fast.

Take the yamaha G9 rear I posted the exact numbers but the trans is like 13:1 however the CVT overdrives and makes it 11:1 roughly in top gear. With 22" atv tires and near 5000rms that is roughly 30mph. High speed gears are often 8:1, I put them in a stock CC with stock tires that ran 18mph and it went to 28mph, hitting the rev limit with the old flathead.

Well, ok I can't see thet in my mind yet but that is what I am seeing. With one wheel on the ground takes 5.75 imput shaft turns to 1 axel turn. So that would be 11.50 to 1, that would be in the range of cart ratios. That makes a big change in my jackshaft ratios.
Thanks

You may have a 6:1 gearset.

They are very common on cart in areas where they can be legally street driven.

You can buy them for most carts.

Such as Sun City in Arizona where all streets are 35mph or less.

This cart was used a the airport by a company the washes planes, so they could have changed the gears? But I must know for sure before I order gears for jackshaft.

this rear is a 1999 Yamaha. Are you saying your G9 input shaft to axle was also 5.75 to 1 ?

I have a G11, Same as a G9, just with a longer body and bed. with 6:1 gears it comes out somewhere between 5 and 6, so yep.

I'm guessing the stock gearing was too slow for driving around an airport.

With 11:1 gears it would top out at around 17mph assuming 18" tires.

With 6:1 gears Max would be around 32mph.

Most private carts sold in AZ are 8:1 or 6:1. They have to able to go 25mph to be road legal in AZ, but no more than 25mph, odd.

I see older folks in zipping along at 40+ often.

Have you ever been stuck in your truck and spun one wheel the spider will lock on
one side and the other axle will spin twice as fast. The speedo says 6o and the tire will be going 120. The forces are what make the wheel on the other side spin backwards when on a lift you turn one side.

I bought this cart without the engine, so I have know idea how fast it went, that would be very helpfull if I had that info.
I have put a GSX-R600 in the cart and now need to build the jackshaft. That why its so important that I know what I have without question.
I have found the gears I want if 5.75 is correct. top speed over 100mph but will allow me to cruse in 3 or 4 at a very low rpm so I will not piss-off the neighbors. If the rear is double 5.75 the speed would be 1/2

Any more input, think I'm going with the 5.75 no jack shaft. If the guys telling me my real ratio is 5.75 x 2 well, I will be pissed. Just can't get my head around the 5.75 x 2
