24HP Honda shifting trouble-as in unable to

Hey guys I am new to the v-twin world. Sold my G-16 and bought an 01 TXT with a Honda GX670 conversion kit. The cart only shifts when you either start it in neutral then shft into gear or jam it as hard as you can when the idle is so low it is about to die.

Took the cables off to lube them and the linkage but no difference.

Will the Jakes floor shifter help since it will give me more leverage? Can the clutch be adjusted to engage at a higher RPM?

If I put a 12" 3/4 drive socket extention over the billet shifter it will go back and forth a little easier but still not velvet smooth. I have the idle set low to help but to no avail.

Is this more of a clutch issue or a belt tension issue? Or am I just retarded....don't answer that
