Default Clutch questions again

I bought the clutch adapter to use my stock Yamaha clutch to save some money. When I get the crankshaft cut and tapped can I use a wider belt? What is the model number or part number of the belt I would need? My engine is a 16 horse Vanny, is the stock clutch good enough? May put in a mild cam at a later date would the stock clutch still be any good?

The issue is it may not idle and shift because the belt drags, a wider belt would be worse. I don't see any reason to use a different belt unless you change the length. You could run a cut sheave we did that it gets moving from a stop faster I can tell, I ran it with the stock engine too. With the clone it gets full rpm in like 2 seconds. With the clone the stock clutch works just like it did stock, but better because it has more torque so it spins up faster. Shift rpm is about the same. If you run a cam likely you will need a clutch you can tune to shift at higher rpm, engage higher, it will work better. But a stock lawn engine and stock G9 have roughly the same powerband.

The width of the clutches has been set for the width belt it uses, I suppose you might be able to run a different belt but not sure why as it will not shift right. A cut sheave nearly pushes the belt out the top, it gives a lower first gear but changes nothing else.

The clone I put in we used the stock gen/starter, so we didn't care about belt drag. It runs just like a stock cart but more power.

sho nailed it, my stock clutch works just like it did, only if I want to be going really fast, really quick, I don't have to wait for the engine to make it happen.

As far as being tough enough, mine seems to be for what I am using it for now.. I plan on a CVtech clutch in the future.

Most cart clutches that take the 1 3/16 belt are fine with more power. The 1" clutch you would have to ask I don't know, I'm mostly yamaha and they don't use those.

If you keep the same distance and offset to the secondary you can run the stock belt, I did. You can raise/lower the engine long as the distance is the same.

Aftermarket clutches can be made to rev and take off hard and all that, you can pop a big wheelie....but you will get tired of driving it that way. You can't do much with stock yami clutches with no spring in them.

This is with the jetting off some, still listen to how fast this 16hp gets to shift rpm, it is faster now with right jetting but there was what less than two seconds? We were lined up side by side he just didn't wait for me to start the camera.
