Default Big Block belt question

I have a Yamaha G-9 with the CPP engine cradle and a 16 HP Vanny mounted up with the stock Yamaha clutch. From my measurements compared to a stock G-9 I need a belt about 1 inch longer. Can any of you experianced guys confirm that and tell me what belt to buy? How much longer and or wider? Thanks as always!!!

Measure it and let us know what you get......quoted from scottyb "take a string or cloth measure tape and run it around the inside shaft of the drive clutch (at motor) and around the outside edge of the driven clutch pulley and add 2 inches. this is the size belt you need post that here and we can tell you if anything stock GC will fit. If not, you are into the napa and gates belts? Basically near any size belt is available for a price but i try to stay with what is available at a reasonable price."

If I was to do that wouldnt that be the exact same as a stock belt measurement? Or is the addition of two inches the key? I have a stock cart and when I measured from the outer drive clutch sheave to the driven clutch nut it is 11 inches. When I do the same thing to the modified cart the exaxct same measurement is one inch longer. Is this not a good way to do it? I will take the measurement as you suggest when I get home. It just made sense to me that if all the kits are the same for a G-9 with the same Vanny motors the belts must be the same also. I will put the measurement on the site tonight for more help. Thanks again for your trouble.

I bought the same cradle but ended up with a different belt length, we could never figure out why. Something came out different. I'm using a snowmobile belt, kevlar and a 1/16" wider. Works great, pick them up cheap on Ebay. I went through several before I found the right one.

The drive clutch measurement is 23 3/4 inches and the driven clutch is 27 5/8 inches.

You need to measure around the inner engine shaft on the drive and around the outside outer edge of the driven pulley and back to the drive clutch shaft again. Make Sense? Should be around 45 inches.....

So the only thing I did wrong was not make a continuous measurement? I should go around the inside sheave of the drive clutch then should go to the outer sheave of the driven clutch in a constant loop and take that measurement? Let me put it another way. If I was to take a rubber band and run it around the drive clutch inner sheave and stretch it to the driven clutch outer sheave all as one piece like a belt that is the measurement I would need? Boy I am probably making this a lot harder than it should be. How about one of you guys just moving to Auburn New York? The weather is so nice!!!
