Default help please

Guys, I need some help, I'm trying to install a EC carb on my 23hp Vanguard, Carb went on fine, started right up, set the idle, looked good, and then whent to shut off and the key does nothing. Now in my haste, I had cut the wires to what I later found out was the fuel shutoff to the carb. The new one did not have such a animal so I thought it was extra parts, or wires.
Can the fuel shutoff realy be the only thing that shuts off the motor? I cant wrap my mind around the fact that fuel is shut off thru a solniod and that gets instant off? I have looked, but I do not see any wires I have left off. Is there a way to wire in a cut off?

Thanks!

Don

I'm not sure on the 23 I have a 16 vanguard without fuel cut off, but it has a grounding pin on the right side of the of the motor that shuts engine down when grounded. it's located above the starter on the recoil start housing. hope this helps

Mine is a 38 series..(38 c.i.) so it is a 21 hp, I thought it was a 23, regardless it came with the same pin on the fan housing (insulated blade connector male side) which is connected directly to the coils (mags) or coil inside under the flywheel.
I am sure there should be an easier way to ground it and shut down..

mine is wired through the switch so when you turn the key off it shuts engine down just like a car.

Got it fixed! It was a ground I missed that bolted on a cable clamp to the shroud, thanks for the sugestions. spent the rest of the day re-wireing and installing the mechanical disk brakes I got from Tom. The Vidio says 40 minutes, I must be realy dumb! Lot's of rust to contend with, got the cart re-wired, and the pre- sterio upgrades installed.

Thanks again!
