Counter weight in block
I have a blown FE 350. My neighbor and I took it apart and had the block welded. Does anyone have any info on what the circumstances are going to be that we have checked everything out and and a have a new cam but have not plans on putting the counter weight back in. Will it will run like a raped ape or will damage occur down the road.

Re: Counter weight in block
You mean the counter weight/balance shaft? I was told its only there for your enjoyment and the engine could care less about it in fact it takes power to run it. I'm not familiar with the 350 but would like to hear other comments about this issue. A few people say it can cause damaging vibrations, but it was an engine builder that told me it is only a comfort issue.
