18 hp briggs in club car
Helllo all, new here to the site and new to golf carts. I currently have a 93 cc ds gas with 8 inch lift and 22 inch tires. Seen this site with the bigger engines and had to try it so I bought a used 18 hp vtwin briggs, making a new engine cradle and ordered the cluch shaft adapter, now the fun begins on how to get the shaft machined to length. Is there any other tips that you guys could help with with to make my project run smooth? Thanks soo much carl

Do you still have the stock clutches?

no , I went with a comet 780, still need to have the other one machined, had to purchase longer belt also. purchased the cart at auction without motor or clutch ,but only gave $20.00 so still under budget so far

Good deal! Do you know if the stock clutch is worth putting in?

Don't think a stock one will fit, a 780 will barely fit. Even then you may need to cut spring perches to fit.

Re: 18 hp briggs in club car
It would depend on how much wear on the clutch, if you go with a new clutch you can get one to fit your shaft without mods. that's why I went that way, and the fact I didn't have one plus the new clutch will handle more rpms, for the new motor.

Re: 18 hp briggs in club car
Roady's probably right , with mine I did not have the stock clutch so could not try to see if it fit. In mine the 780 fit fine with no clearance problems

Things are coming together well. Anyone know where I can get a longer drive belt?
