Default 16 HP Vanguard shut off problem

Ok please be as clear as possible to get through my sometimes thick skull. Right now I have a Briggs and Stratton keyed ignition. I wired it up per the diagrams on the site, 16 amp regulator 490066 diagram under the big block site vanguard wiring diagrams. I use the key to start it and shut it off. A little inconvienent. The only way I can get it to stop is to turn the ignition off which takes about 3 seconds because I am shutting off the power to the gas solonoid to the carb, right? I have the small black wire coming from what I think is one of the coils, tried grounding that when the engine was running and nothing happens. I would like to use the pedal micro switch to ground something out or shut power off to something so it would immediately shut the engine off. Can one of you wizards show me how to do this? I plan on putting the old starter generator back on at some point but not right now.

Have you checked the stickie in the BB section?

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/big-b...rd-wiring.html

The key switch needs to be grounded if it's mounted to the plastic body, that's terminal 1. The stop switch (terminal3) should be a small spade connection on the front of the side engine shroud. Other than that, engine itself needs to be grounded and the terminals on the starter can't touch the frame or she won't turn off. That's about all I can think of........

Thanks again. Actually I put a heavier return spring on the throttle linkage and now it idles itself so low I can shift it while running and it turns off if let it idle for a few seconds. Very controllable now. I think my ignition switch needs the ground put on spade one also.
