CA Green Sticker vs Big Block - What a joke !!!
Cart complete down to the DMV prior to my pismo trip. I wanted to give CA my money but no one would take it. Here is the story. Took a day off work put the cart on the trailer and off to the local DMV. First - Local DMV had to call Sacramento to ask how to give a green sticker off road tag on a golf cart 2.5 hrs. Second - Wait inline for vehicle verification 1.25 hrs Third - Inspector would not inspect the cart as the motor is different from original .25 hours Fourth - Sent to the CA Highway patrol for cart verification. inspector not available need to return. BUT told not need for inspection of a golf cart 1.5 hrs . Fifth - Back to DMV to be told once again they would not issue a off-road green sticker for a golf cart where the motor is not the stock MFG motor that came with the cart 1.5 hrs. SEVEN (7) yep seven hours spent to give the state of California my money for the use of my cart off road on state land. No one wanted to take my $$$. I tried to do the right thing. If I do ever get a ticket I will fight it !!! I tried and the state is out of money. 7 hours of my day to give them what would have been a $40.00 fee.
No wonder why the state is broke. !!! |

Just think if a state has to run our healthcare
As it is right now, I think Id rather go to a doctor/dentist than the dmv |

the whole experience was a waste of time and a vacation day. I was not even trying to register it for street legal use just off road. I have registered several modified / motor swap quads - buggies - rails and never this much trouble.

It was a lil apparent that the motor was new and shiny and when asked I was proud of the install so I told the truth, YEAH I know what an *** I was I should have kept my mouth shut and not been showing off. It even cost me more as I hit the cigar shop on the way home and spent my $40.00 on two really pricey stogies.

Re: CA Green Sticker vs Big Block - What a joke !!!
Sorry to hear you couldn't get it stickered. A big purchase point for me when I got my cart was that it has a CA green sticker, but the cart is registered on the VW vin number found on the pan section used for the rear suspension mount/engine transaxle mount. So according to the DMV my yamaha G14 is a '67 VW. I have no idea how the previous owners got it through DMV (must have been some sort of christmas miracle) but I'm glad they did!
The local DMV gave me the same sort of run around on title transfer of my '69 corvette because it does not have a motor or transmission. I had the car inspected by a peace officer but they told me it must be done by a CHP officer (Wrong!). The paperwork says the inspection must be prformed by a peace officer. I'm going to visit a different office to try it again (I still have the filled out paperwork.) Kelly |

Re: CA Green Sticker vs Big Block - What a joke !!!
I know so I told the DMV Officer after the first go-round I had a San Jose PD officer living down the street I was goign to have him inspect the cart - he said NO and wrote down CHP for verification. I informed him of the DMV website statign a Peace Officer. I was told they do not have access to the internet and could not look up that verbage on their own web page. A i sat two dozen or more people took the drivers test in a language different from english !!! Frosted my *** foe sure !!!

I'm sure you can take Ca DL tests in Arabic but not register a GC for off road use... Toss your paper work and go to a different DMV and Start again with the cart and engine you just polished up? LOL
Knew a guy in Tx who was getting the run around trying to get offroad stickers for BB GC .... they said if it was electric no inspection was needed so he showed up with paperwork for an electric cart and got the sticker? |

I agree with scottyb, just go to a different DMV office and if they ask about the motor say it's the original (just cleaned up).

That's a good idea. I would throw some mud on the shiny engine and no questions would be asked.
