Default Polaris Clutch on Duromax Clone

According to other posts, the Polarix P90 clutch needs bored 3.75 inches deep. The first 1 inch will still be oversized, and the shaft on my Duromax clone is only 2.75 inches long, leaving only 1.75 inches of contact. Is this enough to hold everything in place? Is there any reason to bore to the 3.75 depth as suggested, or can I just go to 3 deep? I know, lots of questions, but thanks for any advice.

The taper only has about 1" of contact. Can't you just use a taper adapter from CPP?

I heard I would have to shorten my shaft -- didn't really want to do that. Correct me if I'm wrong ?? Thanks. Sean

Sorry I got busy. Yes you will if you want the clutch mounted close to the block, where it really should be to be nice to the crank bearing, or if your cart like a G9 has no room and you must to fit the engine in the cart.

I assume the crank has to bottom at the shoulder or end to seat a 1" keyed?? I don't know or remember the last one I did sorry. If it bottoms on the shoulder then should not be a big deal seems like 2" even 1.5 would be plenty of contact area providing the machinist keeps to tolerance close for a snug fit.
