Default Pre-build questions

Hey All! I just acquired a 2000 Workhorse without a motor. After looking around this site I ordered the 23 Vanny kit, add a leaf and 5" lift from CPP. I just wanted to pose a couple open ended questions for you all. What are the things that you wish you would've known before starting your builds? What are the things that I should take care of, that I wouldn't know without doing one of these builds first? The cart came with the stock starter/generator... am I able to still use it?

NICE start....... You can strip everything out of the cart....... wires and all. IT will all be new when you are done, Sell the starter and generator you won't need em. The kit you bought has both.

Thanks for the encouragement. Dropping that money without a lot of info was a little nerve-racking! I've been drooling over new wheels and tires at the local atv shops, but am wondering if I need more stuff to be able to run taller tires than 23". I really like some 25's I've seen, will I need spacers or more lift?

I'm running 25x12x10 on mine. I have a Strech long travel with a 1.5 inch body lift so probably about 7.5 total... 3 inch spacers in the rear with a custom long travel in the rear. 4 wheel disc brakes and 25hp 750cc Vtwin.

I thought I had stumbled across some wheels that had some offset, but I wasn't sure if I read the description right. Of the tires I had seen I was thinking about 12" in the back and 8" or 10" in the front. What are your feelings on this? Did you run the same width front and back?

I have the same width tires front and back right now. I plan to go narrower on the front at some point. Mine are 11" wide. Which to me is plenty for the rear. 12" wouldn't be much more though. How do you plan to use your cart?

Mostly using the cart around the property, picking up weeds and joy-riding, but will occasionally put a 65 gallon sprayer in the bed for spraying weeds. I want to make sure there aren't any other carts, gators or cub cadets that are going to hang with it!

No upgrades yet. The cart came pretty clean, so I thought bigger wheels/tires would top off looks and add easy speed. Will the new motor need a lot of upgrades to run larger wheels/tires?

Failed to mention that most local carts/gators/cub cadets are all stock, so I'm hoping I wont have to break the bank to accomplish my goal! Even if the wife doesn't know about this bank account!
