Here's what I did:
Briggs remote oil filter block off/ adapter w/ gasket- $ 47.00 B/S BRP492687
VW SCATsand rail oil filter adapter, EBay, Tx Aircooled parts- $23.50 w/ ship
Custom Hydraulic hoses made locally and some fittings- $27.00
Home made bracket.
Still, $97.50 and I don't know how to do it much cheaper.........

If you decide to do it and have the hoses made, have them put a swivel on the oil filter bracket fitting. Makes life a lot easier! If you have a Tractor's Supply around I have since found the correct size hoses there, a lot cheaper than having them made.

i had this note from some time ago. These should be available stock on some thing you could find in a tractor graveyard. if you knew where to find one! i have been considering this for a while as well. still too cheap to do it though...

""After a thread on HeyMow (thanks Roger) they were kind enough to point me to the correct Briggs part number. I thought I would update this thread with that information in case anyone in the future needs the same parts.

There are actually two parts needed for the V-Twin engines:

B&S #492687 - "Oil Filter Adapter Kit" - This is the plate that replaces your current oil filter adapter on your motor and has two fittings for your supply and return lines. That is all that this part number includes.

B&S #492061 or #492062 - "Remote Mounting Oil Filter Kits" - Both of these kits are identical except the one ending in 61 has 18" hoses while the one engine in 62 has 30" hoses. This kit includes the two hoses that you need (supply and return) as well as the plate for mounting the oil filter. That plate also has the necessary fittings to connect the hoses.

Here's a pic of the block off plate with hoses attached, and then one with the filter holder on the home made bracket. You can buy the filter bracket and hoses from Briggs like Aaron posted, I think they want $100 bucks or so. I just bought similar parts off EBay. Plus it uses standard automotive filters, either long or short depending on which way you want to go. Don't go longer than 30" on each hose, any longer and you lose pump efficiency.

I remember years ago working on some of the zero turn mowers that used a remote filter system on them. Might stop by a mower shop and ask, I'm thinking Lesco or Grasshopper but could be others.

Fyi..if you are one to make your own hoses, Briggs P/N 495244 is the filter head and fittings WITHOUT the hoses in lieu of 492061 or 492062, and of course, lower cost.
