FNR gear box
Anyone use a FNR gear box?
Ive got a 2si 215F engine that im trying to use. I cant find a narrow rear end on im looking for new options. I came across these FNR grea boxes. Im wondering if the will hold up or if they are junk. If these gear boxes are worthy enough to use then I can use it with a straight axle. |

Re: FNR gear box
Cool, Rifter is building one also So, engine..7 to 16 hp. F/N/R diff case can handle up to 16 HP. I think it would be a perfict assy. As long as you don't try to "beat it". Good luck on your build We all love build pix's and new inovative idea's. That;s what were all here for.

Re: FNR gear box
Thanks!!
Ive still got major rear end problems. I cant find a rear end narrow enough to go under this cart. And it needs to be a CCW rotation. Here is where I asked about my rear end problem in another thread. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-g...-rear-end.html |

Re: FNR gear box
I've looked it over, and off the shelf cart parts with a custom set of wheels stands out as the most solid path.
That engine will be just getting into happy range when that gearbox is at it's max design speed. If getting a replacement gearbox wasn't facing a dead end; I'd be more likely to have a go with it. Not to run off in a whole new direction; but it would be cool if someone could unload the guts from a big outboard lower unit; and package them in a more ground power friendly case. I'd love to see what a nastified 13b engine could do in a cart; but it would grenade any F-N-R unit I know of. |

Re: FNR gear box
Well here may be another option. Ive got a rear end out of a cubcart carry all. It is also too wide for my project. I wonder how hard it will be to narrow it up 1.5 inchs per side. As far as that goes, I may be able to cut it all off of one side? Its a CW rotation but, I may have enoghh room to turn the motor around 180 degrees.
Anyone ever narrowed a golf cart rear end? |

Re: FNR gear box
Jumbo, I'm reading this thread, I go on your link to the rear axle question thread, you say this is a Pargo?? Mine is exactly like yours and mines an EZGO. Maybe they sold this design to each other I dont know. I have the rear axle that came out of it, it's electric though. I'm not using anything that came out of the rear of this cart including some of the frame.

Re: FNR gear box
If I read it right, they discontined Pargo in 1975 and moved them in with Eagle. EZ go later purchased Eagle?
http://www.golfcarcatalog.com/infoPa...argo/pargo.htm Ive got the electric rear end out of mine too. It was running but I wanted to convert in to gas. I could lift it like your and not have a problem with the axle width. I want to keep it low with the tires tucked. |
