Top end speed in the in the 30's. Tourqe that makes you feel like you could pull a house off it's foundation. With the right tweaks and time spent, you may be able to do wheelies?
And, a great sound

$$$ you can spend a lot of money and time with gearing, clutches, and various engine tweaks and make it run at higher rpms. My suggestion would be to big block it, (get the rev kit and timing advance key) Then decide if you need anymore speed.
These things are set up to run real nice at about 12 to 15 mph all day. Once you push them past that they tend to get a little loose on ya. Speed starts to get real expensive.

The 18 and 20 rev pretty nice, the 23 will have more power. The 18 is the cheapest way to get around the same speeds thus its popular. The rev kit is not that expensive it used to be 104, I agree put the rev kit in and the key and take the governor off. That will get you about 6K rpm and a lot more speed though it will be screaming. If you run roads the gears are a better idea for prolonged speed but for bursts this works and you still get lots of climbing power and all. You need to get the steering toe set just right, check all the kingpins and arm bushings and steering box/etc. for play. Wider cart is more stable as is a lower one. If you like lots of speed in a cart I'd highly recommend a dual arm high travel lift kit with new shocks that is wider, it is much safer and more capable than normal lifts. You can drop a cam in the 23 and it will make a significant difference. The stock cams in all these are for under 3600rpm for lawn use, when you rev them higher they don't pull hard at all just rev out. A bigger cam will pull harder. You will also need aftermarket clutch to work well with cam, and they are better for offroad with stock big blocks they engage harder and/or higher. Though a stock 15hp or more lawn engine will pull a stock clutch better than stock cart engines do, but you can't really adjust most primary stock clutches on yamahas.

In my G9 I have an 18 hp vanguard with the rev kit, k&n air filter, stock gears, no governor and 24" tires. Flat out the cart will run right at 40 mph using a gps and the torque is awesome!
