CW motors??
What are my options for a big block that is clockwise? I have a 2000 GS and it is clockwise, so unless I change the rear I need a clockwise motor. I may just rebuild the 290 but I would like to go big.

Mine will spin to 5000 rpm but for very short bursts only, 4000 is my max for day to day running. |

Re: CW motors??
I asked about tricking out a 290 and didnt get much. I am not looking for a beast just something different. I may just do something with the 290.

Re: CW motors??
You could contact someone like Precision Cams and see if they can make you a reverse cam for a clone or vanguard. Problem would be the starter, but you could use the stock gen starter if you didn't go wild on the cam and kept rpm reasonable. If you put a flywheel/rod/rockers/springs in a clone and could get a mild cam, you would have over 20hp I bet. The motor is under 300 parts would be more. Far as I know it would run in reverse, may need a special bracket on the coil, they are splash. I would guess most oil pumps will not run in reverse. You might need the compression release on the cam to get it to start.
Another option is you put a stub on the flywheel and mount the clutch there. You can buy one for B&S and some have had a machine shop make them. I'd guess this is the easiest way. I don't know if you would have a problem with the crank bearing as other equipment runs stuff off that end, might not want to run really high rpm and make sure the engine has a good bearing in there. |
