Default really want to do a nice swap on a budget. Is it possible????

So I am at a cross road here. I bought this cart last year and thought I found a gem for $2500. 30 minutes after owning it the **** motor went south. replacing everything from the alternator/generator, wiring, solenoid, etc... I ended up spending another $750 to have the head replaced and some other work. Needless to say it ran again but now I have a drain in the battery somewhere. I tried to get out of this money pit and would have taken $1000 but no bites on CL. With that said I say F it and lets make it fun. So here is my plan:

I want a cart that is fun to CRUISE. I dont need it to climb the biggest hil or have 25hp but just fun. I want to do this on a realistic budget. my goals are this.
simi quiet, 35ish mph, have a GOOD charging system for lights/stereo, and DEPENDABLE.

In a real world I would LOVE to ditch all the wiring it has for the current motor like the stuff on the firewall (HAHA) and make it simple. is this possible. A Honda clone sounds like the perfect plan but where do I buy and what all is needed?

I currently have a rebuilt Robin and stock rear diff. Do I keep the diff or replace and with what?

if you have some fabrication skills its no big deal to do it. i just did mine. i put in a 18hp briggs but i did a little beef up work. i made my motor carrier and all mounting brackets. i also made my wiring harnes. if you put in a clone or vtwin you can ditch all the old wiring.

Here is the monster. We lifted it alittle more, put REAL shocks on it, and just got rid of the "ghetto" stuff I didnt see. She is about 6" higher now. HAHA

I want this GONE even though I have a bunch of $$$ in it.

I wont say I am a fabricator but I have a buddy taking on the project with me and he can get down. While it is not my thing he has a Caddilac that jumps all over the place and he fabbed the whole thing. What is the rough pricing on a briggs, clone, or Vtwin. Did you have a chance to look into it? We have a toy hauler and both kids love to ride their dirt bikes. Dad just wants something to cruise around to each track thats cool. HAHA

Looks like this is my best starting point and affordable, But I am questioning the charging system.

well, prices on engines vary. new ones will cost you around $1200 and used vary greatly. i picked mine up for $450 delivered to the door.

The Lifen and Duromax are about $300 a piece. A far cry from $1200

sorry, i was thinking about vtwin's. after looking at the axle in your cart and maybe i wasnt looking at it right. is your secondary clutch parralle with the axle. if so, im not sure how that will work. maybe a atv engine swap using a drive shaft would work.
