30hp Generac generator motor for ezgo limo cart

Ok, I know everybody doesn't like the tapered shaft motors. BUTTT its FREE. First I saw on the forum that the taper shaft can be turned to the same size as the ezgo shaft size so I can use the factory ezgo clutch? RIGHT RIGHT? Second The motor is porpane set up so I'm going to need a new or used gas carb. I'm putting up some pictures for any help on this. I have bought any thing yet for the project. Will be need help for part and advice. Thank Dave

Man, what a great deal on the engine!! I dont know about changing a taper to straight but Tom at Carts Parts Plus has straight to taper adaptors, you should call him and see what he has, maybe a Club Car clutch will work, some of them are tapered.

The stock carts are all taper but a generator is a different taper. Last one I recall reading the guy had a machine shop make an adapter to fit the cart taper that goes on there. Some do put the engine on a lathe and run it, or put the crank on, and re cut it but the cart taper is larger than 1" the CPP adapter goes over the 1", the smallest part of the cart taper is just over 1". I don't know if the gen taper is large enough to cut down or if its smaller and needs an adapter. Sure its posted here someplace if you can find. So, of course it depends on if you want to run a 1" straight shaft or a stock taper clutch as to what you do with it.

30 hp and you want to use a stock clutch? I wouldn't. And in the thread that guy has his own shop and turned the clutch down himself (or so he says). If you have to pull the crank and then pay someone to do all the lathe work, it's gonna get pricey. I would just buy the correct straight shaft crank and put that back in. Then go get you a performance clutch for it, Save some money and leave it on propane, you got room for the tank in a limo.
