Super Quiet Exhaust system for honda v-twin

We have a 98 totally customized Ez- go that looks brand new however the engine has come to the end of its very useful fun and showing off life. Now since that has gone bad we have decided that instead of getting the same slow boring Robin that we would get the Honda. Now the only concern that I have is how loud it will be. As I have told you all before we have a lot up at Big Bear lake and the security people up there more that likely would not allow us to have the honda because i know that are more noisy that the robins. are there any exhaust systems that will quiet the honda down a good bit? a whisper would be nice. It could be a tad louder that the robing but ONLY A TAD so if anyone knows of any exhaust systems that will work with the honda that will make it really really quiet PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP! It would be much appreciated!

Mine's a car muffler. Sounds about as loud as the average ATV. I doubt it will ever be much quieter than that.

There is another muffler thread here. Generator mufflers can work, can you fit two stock mufflers that might work to get enough air flow. A car muffler needs a tailpipe to work the best if you try that.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions it needs to be quiet and when i say quiet i mean quiet! anyone know of a small car muffler that will work???????????????

If you want quiet, you need a large muffler and a resonator to get rid of the raspiness. Hushpower mufflers are a great choice. small and quiet, i'd use 2. But spendy.

otherwise, go to the salvage yard and find a muffler from any 1990's small car. tough to fit, but very quiet.

I have successfully used a standard Club Car muffler on a single cylinder Honda clone before. Not AS quiet as a a standard CC but neither is it loud enough to attract unwarranted attention. There are certainly as loud or louder standard carts around with the Robin powered vehicles among them. Perhaps, since you are going with a twin you could utilise one standard muffler per cylinder ?
To my mind it seems most big block users are trail riders where stealth is not as important as it might be to you or I. Another thought is that there are some pretty quiet motorcycles out there that have exhaust systems to hush down some big engines. Might be worth looking into since they are plentiful and reasonably priced.

Quiet car muffler and a smaller but longer tailpipe is how I am going. I'd really like to put a bypass valve in the exhaust to loud it up at times, but not figured out what kind of valve will take the heat.

Most car exhaust systems these days have a collector, a catalytic converter and are usually followed by two mufflers. Double that for most V 8s, same system on both banks. That makes for quiet operation but it hardly applies to the space restrictions of a golf cart frame and chassis. Quite simply, if space is a requirement then those that need quiet need restriction in the system. Shooting the exhaust outlet to the ground is a good option but even a Harley type muffler is going to be obnoxious in these circumstances. This is where we need to apply "sensible" over " I don't care" noise levels and adjust as required. As I stated in an earlier post; My requirement is not high speed and as such I temper the capability of my motors with the requirements of where they will be used. In my case; Golf course. The requirement here is a smooth quiet engine. I don't particularly feel the need to prove that my cart can pull the arse end out of any other but all the while I know it can. Others here as I said earlier are trail riders and god bless em. Sound is unimportant and free flow gives more umphhhh. But it's all horses for courses, I love the "whack" my silly little Duromax provides in my application on a golf course but it silences other owners, by the same token I envy you V Twin Vanguard drivers who have sooooo much torque and speed but I temper myself in the belief that such gratuitous noise, speed and pleasure would not be tolerated by the country club die hards. I'd be sad to see you go though

I need mine about same as stock quiet. I think you could use two stock mufflers on most carts. The problem is the stock mufflers on stock engines tend to be undersize, you put that on a larger/more powerful engine and it can be damaging to the new engine, maybe cause overheating or at least for the exhaust valve. It will kill power as well. If you find a generator muffler for a similar HP engine it should work well, especially since gen engines run a constant higher rpm that requires some flow.

The smaller and longer (similar to a car) tailpipe helps a muffler work better. Usually a muffler on a lawn equip/golf cart that does not have a tailpipe will have one internally. When I say smaller, I mean lawn size since most all car mufflers will be oversize diameter for a lawn engine. Maybe use 1" pipe on the tailpipe a few foot long and that should flow plenty for a clone. I had a muffler I put on a 8hp generator once and it was very quiet, it was off a 45hp diesel engine and looked just like a car muffler. All you heard was the fan blowing air and this was a loud old B&S flathead...so I know it can be done.
